Let's start in 1900 where they had an extremely good harvest both in terms of quantity and quality. This year was a record volume of wine production, which wasn’t equalled until 1982. The wine from the 1900 Margaux vintage had a power and concentration that has rarely ever since been matched. The 1900 vintage of Margaux created excitement. Even today, after 110 years have passed, the 1990 vintage of Chateau Margaux still has a distinct freshness, some say that it could be classed as one of the finest wines that have ever been tasted. The bouquet and aromas on the nose have an incomparable finesse, which are touched with amazing hints of fresh and succulent fruit. On the palate, there is a fabulous impression of richness and smoothness with a long finish that is not only delicious, but refreshing at the same time.
1945 was also a pretty good year for not only Margaux production, but the consumption too. Chateau Margaux wine helped to celebrate the end of the Second World War. The 1945 vintage of Chateau Margaux was, and even still
these days a very powerful, concentrated, mature wine, with a fine, complex bouquet. There is a freshness which comes from the tannins, which remains present on the palate and will most likely allow the fine red wine to age for much longer.
In 2000, this success was repeated with a similar quality of wine produced.
Today, Margaux is a classic, concentrated, rich, deep wine, with a mature, complex bouquet, displaying a touch of mint of in the background.
