About Chianti Classico
Chianti red italian wine, produced in Tuscany around the cities of Florence, Pisa and Sciena. From the traditional Chianti, the
Chianti Classico has become the best known and today has around 7,000 hectares of vinyards and over 600 growers dedicated. Since 1996, Chianti-Classico has it's own production standards and is different to Chianti. Chianti allows the use of white wine grapes as well as a minimum of 75% Saint Giovese, whereas the Classico variety, only grapes can supplement a minimum of 80% Saint Giovese. Chianti Classico wines, tend to be medium bodied with firm tannins and medium-high acidity. The black rooster, that appears on the neck of the Chainti Classico bottle is a symbol of Consorzio Chianti Classico, a body representing the producers of the bottle.
